Scrap car prices Liverpool: what is your car worth?

What a scrap car is worth in Liverpool by size and weight, worked out with our instant-quote formula, with the rate and the date it was last updated.

Scrap cars are priced by weight. At our current rate of £164 per tonne, updated 19 October 2026, a small hatchback works out at about £165–£205 and a medium car at £205–£255, rising to £260–£390 for SUVs. These come from the same formula as our instant quote, so the quote form and this guide agree.

How a scrap car price is built

Kerb weight in tonnes times the rate (£164/t) plus £15, adjusted by £52 for alloy wheels and by deductions if the car does not run, roll or has locking wheel nuts without the key. Free collection is included. Catalytic converter, DPF and wheels are already inside the all-in rate for a complete car.

Typical prices by size

Ranges span the usual kerb weights for each class with steel wheels; your car's own weight is what the quote form uses.

Prices for specific models

For models where we have a sourced kerb weight, see our scrap value by make and model pages, which show the weight range and the value it produces.

How current is the rate?

The rate was last updated on 19 October 2026 and is reviewed manually, so it can lag global steel prices. That is why the date is on the page.

Getting the best price

Get two or three offers for the same registration, describe the car's condition honestly, and check each buyer's ATF permit. A higher offer from a buyer who cannot issue a Certificate of Destruction is not a better deal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average scrap car price in Liverpool?

On our formula, small cars come out at £165–£205, medium cars £205–£255, large cars £255–£310, SUVs £260–£390 and vans £260–£440, at £164 per tonne (updated 19 October 2026).

Do scrap car prices change?

Yes, with the metal market and with each yard's rate. Ours is updated by hand, and the date it was last updated is shown on this page.

Is it better to scrap or sell my car?

A car with a valid MOT that runs well may sell for more privately. A non-runner or a car that needs work beyond its value is usually simpler to scrap. Compare a scrap offer with a private or trade price.
